System Requirements

Our premium technical support team is ready to help when you need it

Updated January 2024
If you are considering purchasing a new computer, the minimum system configuration is recommended, and we ask that you acquire a system that meets or exceeds this configuration. In building this configuration list, we have listed hardware and software that is readily available to the consumer. If you already have equipment which you believe may run Tracker, please contact us.

Single/Workstation Configuration

  • Windows 10 or 11 installed using a 64-bit or 32-bit architecture. (PRO OR ENTERPRISE VERSIONS OF WINDOWS ONLY – updated to the latest build and has all required Windows Updates)
  • UAC must be disabled where applicable
  • Windows scaling in Display settings needs to be set at 100%
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 (Tracker 11)
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 must be enabled
  • Windows Offline files (Sync Center) must be disabled for all Tracker folders
  • Some digital x-ray devices may not be compatible with 64-bit OS, check with the manufacturer for 64-bit drivers.

NOTE: Workstation users must have the ability to install / update the Tracker application (default path is c:\Program Files (x86)\Tracker Work). Without this, offices may experience issues during update and an admin login may be required to complete the installation.

NOTE: Tracker 11 provides offices with the Microsoft SQL Server Express 2012 R2 Database Engine. This version of SQL Server provides for up to 10GB databases. Larger offices whose database storage needs may one day exceed 10GB should look into upgrading to a full version of Microsoft SQL Server.

  • Intel i7 or i5 – 4th Generation Processor (4XXX) or Newer
  • Intel i3 – 8th Generation Processor or Newer
  • 4GB of available RAM Minimum
  • 128GB HDD/SSD or larger hard drive
  • 17” .28dpi Colour SVGA Monitor. Widescreen preferred.
  • Integrated Video card. Please consult your x-ray vendor for additional video card requirements.
  • The display scaling / DPI of all workstations must be set to 100%

Server Configuration

  • Windows 10 or 11 installed using a 64-Bit architecture. (PRO OR ENTERPRISE VERSIONS OF WINDOWS ONLY – updated to the latest build and has all required Windows Updates)
  • Windows Server 2016, 2019 and 2022 – All Editions
  • SMB2 needs to be enabled for Tracker 11 offices.
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 (Tracker 11)
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 must be enabled
  • Offices with more than 5 workstations, we strongly recommend using a Server operating system

  • Intel Xeon E3 v2 series or Newer
  • 8GB of available RAM minimum
  • 15” Colour SVGA Monitor
  • The O/S drive must be at least 128GB. It is recommended to have the Tracker installation on a drive other than where the O/S resides.
  • 500GB or larger high performance hard drive in a mirrored disk configuration.
  • 200GB of free space for the Tracker Installation.
  • 500GB of free space for Tracker with Imaging.
  • Network Attached Storage (NAS) Servers are not supported.

Antivirus/3rd Party Security

In offices where real-time virus scanning, the Tracker directories will need to be excluded in order to prevent performance problems and database corruptions. On the Server you will need to exclude the Tracker folder and its contents.
On each workstation you will need to exclude the ‘C:\Program Files(x86)\Tracker Work’ folder and the Tracker server share ie. \\SERVERNAME\TrackerServer

Tracker by The Bridge Network, provides BackTrack Online Backup for offices with high-speed internet connections. If you choose not to use BackTrack, please discuss backup solutions with your hardware vendor.

The display scaling on computers must not be higher than 100% to prevent issues when printing. Hardware vendor can explore options in reducing resolution if displayed items in Windows is too small.

Uninterruptible Power Supply with power management software is required for Server and recommended for workstations.

If Network Installation: Each machine will require a High performance PCI Network Interface Card. Cabling and hubs should be discussed with your hardware vendor. Cabling, hubs and cards must be 1 Gbit.

Minimum recommended network speed for computers running Tracker outlined below. Test should be run between the workstation and the server computer.

Wired / Desktop machines: 350Mbps write and 350Mbps read.
Wireless / Portable machines: 100Mbps write and 175Mbps read.
While Tracker can be run both wired and wirelessly, a wired network connection will always yield the best results in performance and can reduce any issues that may arise communicating with the Server PC. We recommend using a wired connection whenever possible.

Tracker recommends that generating letters, documents and emails be done by using Tracker’s document editor and SMTP. Alternatively, Microsoft Word and Outlook (2016 or newer including 365) can be used but must be installed and licensed and configured. Versions of each application must match, and full offline installation of the programs is required. Office web, Starter, Basic, Microsoft Online (MSO) and Microsoft Store Editions are not supported. Trust Center Settings must be configured for programmatic access.

Note: IP mappings to server directories will not work with Microsoft Office and therefore is not supported. UNC paths or mapped drives are required.

Please note:

This information sheet is intended to be a guideline for selecting the components to build your computing environment. It is prudent to work with a professional who is experienced in network operating systems, their usage, configuration and proper installation. It is important to select a network vendor whom you can trust. Your vendor should help you make an informed decision and be available to support you.

Additional Clinical Requirements

Charting

Additional Hardware

  • A microphone, or some other sound input device to receive the sound, is required for speech recognition. In general, the microphone should be a high quality device with noise filters built in. The speech recognition rate is directly related to the quality of the input. The recognition rate will be significantly lower, or perhaps even unacceptable, with a poor quality microphone.

Documents and Imaging

Additional Hardware

  • Tracker can acquire images and documents via importing, video cameras, digital cameras and TWAIN compliant scanners. Please consult the device manufacturer for TWAIN compatibility.
  • Wi-Fi camera functionality is obtained through the use of various third party applications. Offices will need to have this software installed and a wireless router providing internet access.

Intraoral Cameras

  • The Bridge Network SmartCam is fully compatible with Imaging.
  • Third party USB / firewire intraoral cameras are compatible via streaming video or twain interfaces with installation of manufacturer drivers.
  • Analog devices may require a video capture device (such as the Dazzle DVC 100) and should be thoroughly tested for compatibility.

Digital Radiography

  • Imaging can acquire directly from several Digital Radiography sources. Please contact us if you are interested in using CSI to acquire from a Digital Radiography source that is not currently listed.

Additional  Requirements

Tracker software requires a laser printer, with at least 16MB of memory, capable of printing 12 pages per minute or more. If you intend to print images 32MB, is recommended.
Bubble Jet and Ink Jet printers are suitable for printing images, but are not suitable for Tracker. These printers print line-by-line, which may not able to shift the paper to print to the bottom of the page properly.

Intraoral Cameras

Some external USB hubs are known to cause issues with the capturing capabilities of intraoral cameras and may need to be disconnected for proper functionality.

Smart Label Printer

Tracker can capture patient information and send it to a label printer. This feature prints addresses, next appointments, file folder labels, etc. For this feature a label printer is required and the Dymo label printers have been tested and work with Tracker.
